I personally LIKE foie gras but gave it up several years ago once i found out how it was produced (same with veal). The practice of force feeding ANYTHING is abhorrent.
But equally abhorrent is passing a law that outlines what i can or can't order in a restaurant.
HELLOO -- as a resident of Chicago -- THAT'S STUPID!
But, please, i'd like to hear other opinions!
Answer:
I believe that if it is something that can cause a health risk, then by all means ban it (i.e. Cigarettes, and Alcohol). But if the only reason they are banning it is because of how the animal or bird is fed then they should ban beef, pork, seafood, and any other animal product, because of the way they are slaughtered.
