Allright, we all have gone to a restraunt and had a terrible waitor/waitress... other times they were great! So.... what do you think tiping is based on? Performance? Or just because they brought food to you? Whatcha think?

I would say tiping on performance is the way to go, if they were nice and did a good job, bigger tip...

I would say that I tip more based on their performance and on their service. If they were polite, brought water, brought the food while it%26#039;s still hot, came to do refills and ask if everything is okay. And when service is horrible, I tip a lot less than what I would if I had good service

Truth be told, I don%26#039;t think I%26#039;ve ever had a bad waiter or waitress.

As a rule, if I go to a nicer restaurant (basically not McDonalds--anything with a wait staff), I always go to the same ones. People generally know me in any restaurant I go to, because I don%26#039;t change all that much.

They know I like to give good tips, and they do their best for me. I%26#039;d probably give a tip even if they weren%26#039;t good; but my usual tip is somewhere between 40 and 50%, and they would get the standard 15% if they weren%26#039;t good.

But that is just me personally. I don%26#039;t like to go out much, but when I do I appreciate that they made it a good time for me. And since its usually only me (single and not looking), I can afford to tip more.

15% for average service, 20% for great service (feel free to give more, lol), and if they suuuuuccccck, give them 10% or less (but keep in mind, if they are running around because their manager gave them too much tables, give them 15%, it%26#039;s not their fault if someone doesn%26#039;t show up and they get more tables they can manage)
