I believe that a waitres' tip should directly coincide with her service. I usually start out with a point system. You get five points. For everything you do that pisses me off, I subtract points. For everything you do right or well, I add points. They higher the points, the higher the tip.
I also believe that there are better ways to express your disgust than not leaving a tip. If you are pissed off at your waitress, but feel compelled to leave a tip, try these:
-Leave all change... waitresses hate the jingling.
-Leave one penny... a favorite for the one who likes to tell me her life story (a penny for your thoughts)
-Leave the money in a glass of water (especially change)
-Leave the money covered in either ketchup, syrup, or coke
-Leave the money on or under the left over food on your plate.
-Stab the money with the fork in to the table.
-Leave money on the table, but come back in plain sight and take it off the table before the waitress can grab it, while she's watching you.
