Question:
how much of a tip should you leave for a waitress when eating in a dine in restuarunt?

Answer:
As a restaurant manager I think that 20% of the bill is the standard. If you have bad service than you should leave less, or great service you should leave more. Just remember that most servers make about $2.38 an hour depending on the state they work in. The money that pays their bills and feeds their kids comes from the tips that are left for them. Just base it on the quality of the service. And if the kitchen messes up or takes a long time please DO NOT take it out on the server, it is not their fault. I usually leave at least 25% but I am also in the business.
