Question:
what and where is the best fancy restaurant in England ?

Answer:
There are many - London has more Michelin starred restaurants than any city in the world now.

However, "The Fat Duck" in the village of Bray-on-Thames in Berkshire is particularly famous/notorious. Top chefs like Gordon Ramsey & from round the world have all made pilgrimages there. It's not a fancy restaurant in terms of decor, but in gastronomic terms it is unique.

The head chef there is reputed to have some kind of unusual ability to break down everything he puts in his mouth into the various components of taste that make it up - kind of almost in the same way that a machine would do a chemical analysis - though obviously much smarter than a machine.

This gives him the ability to come up with the strangest, yet delightful, unique and most original concoctions. It really is a unique experience!

For example they have been known to have hay and pollen on the menu. The following are some of the less unusual things they've had recently on the menu (obviously, since it changes seasonally this may not be what you see on the menu if you go):

Roast scallop, caramelised cauliflower puree, marinated cep and jelly of oloroso sherry.
Veloute of celeriac and tapioca, cabbage stuffed with pig's cheeks and choucroute.
Veal kidney roasted in its fat, Macvin, Golden Wonder Pont-Neuf & Ketchup.
Poached Breast of Anjou Pigeon with cherries & pistachio.
