Whatever brand of vodka you are going to buy here is the too famous and liked "Cosmopolitan":
"Cosmopolitan I"
1 oz Vodka
1/2 oz Triple sec ( Orange liqueur)
1/2 sweetened Lime juice
1/2 Cranberry juice
1 Lime wedge
( Shake liquid ingredients like hell in a shaker with ice. Place lime wedge on the rim of a Martini glass and serve)
"Cosmopolitan II"
1 1/4 oz Vodka
1/4 Lima juice ( or plain Lemon juice)
1/4 Cointreau ( French liqueur) or Triple sec
1/4 Cranberry juice
You would have a great success if you prepare a "Cosmopolitan", especially if the gathering will be with women.

Absolut Vodka (in the blue bottle) would be a perfect bottle to bring along - not super expensive but not cheap either! The cheap stuff can taste nasty, so go with a mid-range price at least. Absolut will probably run around $15 - $17. Another brand to try is Three Olives Vodka. I'm not exactly sure of the price, but I know it's not outrageous.
A good tip when buying vodka:
As attractive as the price is, AVOID buying the plastic bottles! I would also avoid Skhols (sp?).
Also, the higher up the shelf, the better, usually.

Believe it or not, Seagrams has a reasonably priced, good quality vodka. If you plan to mix the vodka with anything other than water, it's a waste to use an expensive vodka. If you plan to drink it straight, spend a little more money.
Not grey goose, thats one of the most expensive. Buy Smirnoff, its cheap and you wont notice the difference from one that is slightly more. Around ten dollars.

Stolichnaya - a.k.a. Stoli", is a great vodka & it is very reasonably priced ($17). It has a satisfying flavor & it goes down very smooth.
Whatever you buy, chill it in the freezer for a couple hours first if possible.
