I like tequila , and mostly I drink it straight. But sometimes I want a mixer. I do NOT want juice or even lime; I just want a soft drink mixer. So, what goes best with tequila? Club soda? Ginger Ale? Coke? Something else?
Answer:
for a soft drink...I have found that there are a variety of recipes that use club soda. Coke is ok. Ginger ale is better (7-Up is great!). There is also Fresca and grapefruit sodas, that work fine too. If you are OK with lemon and sour mix, you can do well there. Also Kahlua, white creme de menthe, grenadine, and vermouth go well (not all together with) with tequila.
I'm not a bartender, but ginger ale works for me
A Mexican cook at the restaurant I work always has it with sprite, so you have the soda version of tequila and lime...
7-up. In a rocks glass, add a shot of tequila topped with a shot of 7-up. Hold a coaster tightly on top and slam it on the bar. Take off the coaster and chug the frothy heaven down. It's a Tequila Popper.

It's called a Dirty Mother.
The best is with Tonic if you like the taste of tequila, but my favorite is in bloody mary mix, or spicy V8.
I also like tequila straight, Casa Noble Crystal is my favorite... but I will also mix tequila with:
Squirt a few drops of lime and a bit of salt, over ice
Pomegranate juice, over ice
I will also do a Tequila Tonic sometimes
A bit of Grand Marnier and some lime, over ice
