Also what is the best type of rum to use?

Answer:
Emeril Lagasse recipe:
1 lime, cut into 16 pieces, plus more for garnish
16 fresh mint leaves, plus sprigs for garnish
2 tablespoons superfine sugar
1/2 cup white rum
Seltzer water

Divide the lime pieces, mint leaves, and sugar evenly among 2 (12-ounce) glasses. Using a muddler, mash the lime pieces and bruise the mint leaves while dissolving the sugar. Add enough chipped ice to each glass to fill. Add 4 ounces of rum to each glass, then use a cocktail shaker to combine and thoroughly chill each drink separately. Pour the contents of the shaker back into the glasses and top each drink with a splash of the seltzer water. Garnish the glasses with lime and mint sprigs.
No. I guess not.
mojitos are best using light rum - the dark rum is too like a whiskey, and the spiced rum is not the correct flavor.

quarter 1 lime and place 2 or three of the quarters in a tall glass. add 1 tbsp. fresh mint leaves. add white sugar or simple syrup to taste. crush these together using a wooden pestle or muttle, to release the lime juice & mint essential oils. fill glass with ice, then add 1 or 2 shots good quality light rum. top off with club soda or seltzer water (not tonic, as this will alter the taste of the drink). garnish glass with remaining lime quarter and fresh mint sprig. enjoy!

I'm not sure where to get it, but the brand Monin sells a mojito mint syrup that is really good. There's a recipe on the back that calls for 1 oz. syrup, 1.5 oz. light or citrus rum, lime juice and club soda. I recently had a party and they were a hit! You might be able to find it at walmart. I'm a bartender, but we discontinued the mojitos at work. I think my bar got it from the liquor store. Good luck!
in a rocks glass put fresh mint leaves, lime slices, simple syrup (or regular sugar if you have to) and roses lime juice.. and muddle with a few ice cubes

add more ice cubes and bacardi rum
(you could use raspberry bacardi and its real good, and if your feeling frisky you could add fresh raspberries)

shake well and top off with club soda
garnish with a lime
ok...

12 - 15 mint leaves
3 lime wedges
3 barspoons of brown sugar
2oz of white rum

muddle fruit, mint and sugar so it looks like a paste.
fill with crushed ice.
Add the rum
Churn (mix up) using a barspoon
Add a spash of soda water (optional)
fill with crushed ice

garnish - lime wedge and mint sprig.

Try adding different flavours.
strawberry - muddle 4 strawberrys with the others, add 1/2 oz strawberry liquer and take out 1/2 oz of the rum.
Captain Morgan Dark.
Scale ingredients to servings
3 fresh mint sprigs
2 tsp sugar
3 tbsp fresh lime juice
1 1/2 oz light rum
club soda

In a tall thin glass, crush part of the mint with a fork to coat the inside. Add the sugar and lime juice and stir thoroughly. Top with ice. Add rum and mix. Top off with *chilled* club soda (or seltzer). Add a lemon slice and the remaining mint, and serve.
my best mojito: put in highball tsp brown sugar;4slices of fresh lime;dash of sugar gum if you like;10-12 mint leafes and muddle all together. Add crash ice,and 50ml.of Mount Gay rum or Appleton rum(Bacardi white can be fine aswell) ster it all with a long spoon and add soda water on top.Garnish with spring mint and....ENJOY IT!!
