Well, each person is different. Which means that once you find your own limits then you will know exactly how many drinks you can handle in a night. It also depends on what type(s) of alcohol you are planning on drinking. If you switch up alcohol several times in a night (like taking several different types of shots) one will get drunker faster.
I would say on Average for a man it would be 10 drinks (I am including all the college "men" in this too), and for women I would say about 5 drinks.
For myself, I can handle 13-14 bottled beers in a night, or 10 Mixed dirnks, or 10 Shots.
My "best" night was my 21st birthday. I took 24 shots and drank 7 beers. That night I obvisouly vomited several times, so it was well past my limit.
