AA is definitely not for me! But I'm at the age where all my friends want to do is go to bars, and I'm roomates with an ex-marine who drinks every day. It's very hard to stop drinking under these conditions. Can anyone help?

i used to drink every day and work in bars so all my friends were there partying all the time. one day i just realized i come from a family of alcoholics and just decided to stop. it isn't that difficult if you really want to do it just go out with them and be the designated driver most nights, after you see what an a$$ most people make of themselves when they're drunk it will give you extra motivation to not be that guy

simple..stop drinking cos if ya don't you are gonna screw ya life up big time, you are only young..quit now while you can mate, i once lost a friend due to drinking too much all his life and it's not nice.

Find new friends You'll have to stop associating with those friends and find new ones - preferably friends that are also in AA and can help support you through this transition. Nobody said it was going to be easy.
If you are really serious about stopping, then you need to find new friends.
