When a recipe calls for dijon mustard, can I use prepared mustard instead?

Answers:
Dijon mustard is a particular type of prepared mustard. If the recipe is American, you probably can get away with it.

*Real* Dijon mustard is quite strong flavored. It's made from black or brown mustard, not the milder white mustard most Americans are familiar with. It also uses green grape juice, not vinegar (or wine), has no added flavorings, stabilizers, filler material or coloring, and has all remnants of the hulls strained out.

Other Answers:
Dijon has wine in it

color and taste Dijon mustard has white wine in it...

dijon has a bit of a kick to it ( makes u pucker)but taste great prepared is mild
