Answer:
Someone might want a dirty martini. An inexperinced barkeep might chuck a lugie in there.
Not really. Most places will provide on site training, and if your good with people you will be a natural.
Its too bad if u dont know what ur doing isnt it?
Bars tend to get busy, so if someone orders a drink you don't know how to make and you have to go and ask someone your tips gonna be crappy and the customer will be upset. You can take a bartending course so you know what your doing and know your drinks so you can rock the bar and make lots of $$$! Bottoms up!
no-one wants a clueless moron making their drink!
you need to be a people person, have to deal with people drinking, drunks are not always happy, you need to know your alcohol, you need to know what alcohols can be mixed, you need to know how to make different kind of drinks, you have to start somewhere so start out at a little bar, they usually hire people who are not experianced and they will train you, being a bartender is not a simple job at first, however it can be a very fun and very humourous job,you also have to have good judgement and be very stern when need be, you have to be an assertive person, people get into fights, big brawls can happen, you sometimes have to "bar" people, you need a good memory, local people like to be known and their "usual" likes to be remebered..start out as a waitress or a bus person in a resturant, work your way into being a barmaid or bartender..best of luck to you
Ever been to a busy bar? Does it look easy? It's not. Ever been served by a bad bartender? No fun.
because its hard to get the measurements right its like making coffee if you haven't dun it before its hard to get it to come out right
Cuz people tend to get upset when they order an Irish Car Bomb, and get an appletini!
to be able to make drinks properly, and to interact with people in a positive way, basically
You don't. You just need confidence, charisma, and a pretty good memory. When I started bartending, I got a 20 minute crash course from the manager, which was spent primarly on operation of the cash register, credit card machine, and half a dozen most common drinks.
If you have charisma, you will excel. If you don't, as soon as 15 people are asking you for a drink at the same time, you will spontaneously combust. The scary thing about it, MAKING DRINKS IS THE EASY PART. Dealing with the noise, people, money, etc. etc. etc. is what kills.
If you can keep a smile on your face no matter how much stress you have to deal with, congrats, you are one of the lucky few. It's most definitely not for everyone. And no bartender or manager that I know (a hell of a lot) places any merit on a diploma from a supposed "bartending school." Either you can do it, or you can't. Sink or swim. Best of luck!
if the bar has mixed drinks you will have to know what to mix..
