It all depends on what you are wanting. This is a very contested question and recently South Africa has been climbing in the standings
I'd have to say Italy. Since they invented it's conception but today many countries make a very nice glass.
well i think the best 1 comes from switzerland & germany. because for best results they still use the old meathod to produce wines & beers
It depends on your taste, but I have found wines from Australia to be strong contenders in this arena.
France
italy or Austrialian '' my home
australia... esp wines from yarra valley victoria, margeret river WA, barossa and clare valleys SA and the hunter region NSW.
That would be France.
By far...
Second to none.
Try a Chateau Latour 1938 or if you cannot dish out several thousand $ try the 1983 vintage.
Australia: NSW Hunter Valley, SA Clare Valley, WA Margaret River. Hands down.
Each person has their own tastes and each country has their own line of medals to back their wines up. New Zealand makes some excellent wines but some people say they've been slipping in the last 2 to 3 vintages. Australia is equally good and the "Old World" wine producers (France, Italy, Spain, Germany) make amazing wines.

My personal choice is Canada because although they are relatively new to the scene (around 30 years) they keep beating out the more established countries at the competitions. No other country in the world makes icewine as consistently and as good as Canada. Basically, it depends on what kind of wine you are looking for.

California - Red Zinfandel
Oregon - Pinot Noir
British Columbia - Pinot Noir
Ontario - Icewine, any white wine and Gamay Noir
France - depends on the region but they are good in both whites & reds
Italy - Reds
Germany - Rieslings
Austria - Rieslings & some other white wines
Greece - White wines
New Zealand - Sauvignon Blanc & Pinot Noir
Australia - Chardonnays

Pretty much take your pick from that list above and you won't go wrong.

Right now, Australia is putting out the best wines for the money. Yellowtail is my personal favorite.

However, if you want to impress someone, a bottle of Bontera will rock their world. It's $15 - 20 for a bottle, but it's worth every penny for a special dinner or gift.
I would have to say the good old United States is putting out some very good wines.

Argentina wines are on the rise right now.
