The recipe you are describing sounds like a recipe I have called Rye and Injun boys only the recipe calls for deep fry but I am sure you can also bake it.
1 1/2 cups rye meal
1/2 cup white flour
1/4 cup corn meal
1 Tbsp. Sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
2 1/2 Tsp. baking powder
1 egg beaten well
1 Tbsp. molasses
Sift the dry ingredients together and add the egg, molasses and just enough water to make a very soft dough. Cut the water in with a knife. Drop bu large amounts into hot fat and fry brown. Drain on soft paper
For truly Oklahoma Squaw Bread calls for flour, lard, salt, baking powder and water and isnt fit to eat unless you deep fry it in lard and coat it with cinnamon and sugar suh as a doughnut hole.
