I have a tophat blueberry plant that was just planted this year...it's in a pot so i can move it inside. It's not producing a ton of berries, but some. Is there a certain way they have to be frozen? They are not all ripening at once and I would like to make banana-blueberry bread with them once i get enough. Any suggestions?

Answers:
Blueberries freeze well. You can start a freezer zip-loc bag and just add to it as they ripen. I would wash them and make sure they are very dry first. Or you can wait and wash them all after they defrost.

Sounds very yummy!

Other Answers:
just put them in a ziplock and freeze them, they should keep, but not forever.

for banana bueberry bread it doesn't have be frozen do not wash them before you freeze them. this will cause all of them to stick together.

My family freezes blueberries all the time. They keep for years that way and we can defrost and make pies anytime we want. Just clean them up, stick them in some Tupperware and put them in the freezer. They won't be quite as good as if they were fresh, but in baked goods you never notice the difference.

They freeze fine but make sure to seal it very tight so no air goes inside. when defrosting take it out of the packaging.
Good Luck.

Line a cookie sheet with wax paper and put the berries on it in the freezer until frozen. Then put them in a freezer bag once frozen. That is the best for berries as they freeze separately and are not stuck together. You can keep adding them to the freezer bag as they ripen. Pick them and put them in a freezer bag. Do not wash them before freezing.

Don't defrost before using. The blueberries will be very mushy then. When I freeze blueberries and bake with them I use right out of freezer.
