Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(How can I get lemon zest?),it will help you,my kids.

I want to try a new recipe this week and it calls for the zest of one lemon. However, I don't have a lemon zester and I don't want to buy one really. Is there any other way I can get the zest from the lemon?

Answers:
CITRUS ZESTER: - A zester tool can be used to remove fine strips of zest from the surface of the lemon. The tool is pulled across the skin to remove the fine strips, which can then be used as strips or minced to produce a finer zest.

GRATER: - A metal grater can be used to produce fine particles of zest. The surface of the lemon is rubbed diagonally across the grater and the lemon turned often to avoid grating the layer of white pith.

Other Answers:
just use me!!!

^_^
just use a cheese grater...they work just fine
use a vegetable peeler, and try not to get the white of the lemon, its way too bitter, then slice the peels as thinly as you can
take lemon and grate the peel like you would do with cheese. Don't push hard! as soon an the white underneath shows up move to a different spot on the lemon. grate as much as you think you will need!
shave the peel of a lemon and that is lemon zest
you can use a cheese grater..works just as well.
you can use a cheese grater or a very sharp knife very carefully
Do you have a cheese grater??? Just rub the lemon on that to get the zest...but don't go down to the white part of the lemon..it's bitter.
You just want the yellow parts of the lemon.
no u will have to but it unless ur folks have one
way i get it is the lemon outside the skin you should whatch cooking show they use alot youl learn how to get zest of a lemon
Use a clean lemon across a cheese grader.
If you have a cheese grater with different textures sides, that will work too. Just rub the lemons outside on the part of the grater with the smallest holes in. Just make sure you are getting the yellow on the outside of the lemon, not the white underneath.
use a cheese grater
Use the side of a grater, like a grater you would use to grate cheese.
use a box grater, and use the fine side of the grater
just use the smallest grate on your grater ya know a cheese greater and scrape the lemon on it when you grate a lemon the fine pieces of lemon peel is lemon zest
You can do it with a small paring knife. It is just thin scrapings of the lemon rind.
By finley grading the lemon rhine
you can use a cheese grater or a vegetable peeler to "scratch off" the tiny pieces of lemon peel. Or, use a sharp knife (preferably serrated) and scrape (carefully) at the peel.

Good Luck
Use the tiniest side of a cheese grater. That's what it's for. Simply grate the lemon over the grater, making sure not to go all the way to the white of the lemon. That part of the lemon, tends to be a little bitter.
Scrape the outer rind of the lemon with a Zester or a serated knife, what you scrape off is the Zest.
it is the outer part of the skin, the color, not the white under skin {pith} you can use the fine grater on a 4 way square grater and don't go to deep
buy a lemon and scrape off the outside of the lemon with a grater or a potato peeler works real good..make sure you dont get none of whe white pithy stuff under the zest because its very bitter and will kill ur recipe.they also sell it dried in the herb section of the store but its not the same as fresh
You can usually just peel the lemon with your knife, but not too deeply -you don't want a lot of the white on the rind.
The easiest way for me is to use the finest side of my cheese grater. I also have a rasp file (it's actually a building tool) that works terrifically...but be sure to wash it VERY well if you steal it from the tool box. (It looks like an oversized nail file made of metal.)
Do you have a grater, like the one you grate cheese with. There should be an area on it with tiny teeth. You wash and dry the lemon, and grate off the outer layer of the lemon peel. You can also buy a zester, where you use the zester to scrape over the peel to remove it. You don't want to go so deep into the skin to get the pith, the white membrane between the skin and the fruit. Watch your knuckles!!!
One can buy lemon zest in a bottle.

Or, one can grate the zest (peel) of a lemon.
You can use the opposite side of a cheese grater. The side with those little tiny holes. That works great. Just make sure you only get the peel and not the white part when you peel. That part is very bitter.

Have a nice day!
if you have a grater, use the holes on the side to grate the lemon, just the yellow, don't zest the white part.
