Regular ol' granulated sugar. You moisten it slightly w/ warm water, and press into a mold. Before it dries into a brick, gently scoop out the center, then let dry completely. You can then decorate with royal icing or whatever other decor you like. You can also tint the sugar before you begin using paste food color.
Goodle "sugar eggs" and you will also find directions on boxes.
