I always have nice Green brocolli when I use my Microwave Rice Steamer. I got it a Meijer. It has this pointed bottom with support legs and you fill it with water until it just reaches the bottom of the basket that goes inside and pop it in the microwave for about two minutes!

steam it for no longer than needed, then instantly plunge it into ice water. this is called blanching.it will stop the cookng process which is what fades the color to begin with
don't steam it, pan fry it w/ about 2 tbspoons of vegi oil, then drizzle with soy sauce or oyster sauce! YUM! (this is how my chinese parents cook it!)
