How To Cook Fresh Corn on the Cob Recipe
Does your fresh corn on the cob turn gummy and stick to your teeth? You may be overcooking it. Learn how to cook fresh corn on the cob so you don't end up with a gummy mess.

Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 15 minutes

What You Need:
Large stockpot with lid
Fresh corn on the cob, shucked
Butter, margarine, or condiments of choice

Here's How:
Fill a large stockpot halfway with unsalted water and bring to a rolling boil.
Add corn on the cob to the boiling water.
Let water return to a boil.
Cover pot and immediately turn off heat.
Let covered pot sit undisturbed on the burner for 10 minutes.
Remove corn and serve hot with your choice of butter, margarine, salt, and/or other seasoning.

Tips:
Be sure the corn is fresh. Leaves should be green and pliable. The silk should be dry, not soggy.
Avoid buying corn with husks removed. It's probably old. The husk keeps it fresher.
Cook fresh corn within 24 hours of purchase.
Overcooking toughens corn.
Do not salt the water. Salt will toughen the corn. Sugar may be added at 1 tsp per quart of water, but it shouldn't be necessary.
i do not boil it the flavor stays in the water. leave it in the husk on the grill while cooking anything else. it will make ordinary corn taste great. it seals the flavor in.
put it in a pot of water boil it for a while until the corn is soft of the cob then but it on the grill and put butter on while its on the grill
If you boil them in water:
fill just to cover cobs, add some sugar if you like, bring to a boil. You only need to cook them for 2 minutes after it comes to a boil and no longer. Take them out of the water ASAP and put on serving plate or drain the water out of the pot and leave in pot.
in clean sand with oil or on a grill
