I'd go with Richard's answer. I love potatoes, too! I understnad in Denmark they make a raw potato sandwich. I'd like to know, Richard. Have you ever eaten them pickled?
you can wrap it three fold with an aluminum foil and throw it at the campfire while burning your billy. the potatoe will be ready just in time for dinner.
very easy, don't you know,
even i don't know
mashed
baked
creamed
boiled
fried with extra virgin olive oil
scalloped
French fries
American fries
cheesy potatoes
augratin
I aggree with Richard and home schooling mother. Wash the potato but don't peel it, wrap it in aluminum foil and before closing the wrap, add a small piece of broth cube of the flavor you prefer. Put it into the live coals when having a camp fire and you've got a simple delicious meal.
Skinned, cut in cube, boil or steam until soft, marshed, add ham, bacon, cheese, onion, garlic, any other ingredients...etc.
Richard..........you da bomb!
This site is all about cooking potatoes, knock yourself out.

Wash them well and peel them.
Soak in a salty water for a while.
Remove from water Put in a high cooking pan ( the ones used in the oven with high sides )
cover with milk and add salt ( but not much as the cheese will be salty) and white pepper.
Put in the oven until milk is almost gone and the potaoes are tender.
Get out of the oven and cover the surface with shredded Parmasan cheese or cheader( much cheaper)
Put again in the oven unil cheese all melts and is getting colored.
here you go.
( Pomme ou gratan ) I am not sure of the spelling
