I'm trying this new recicpie and it says you need to flatten the chicken breast in order to wrap in the bacon. ive never heard of flattening chicken. please no smart-alecky answers.
Answers:
use the bottom of a heavy pan and pound the chicken until it is the thickness you need
Other Answers:
Sit on it
You choke the chicken first ... a meat mallet, it's like a hammer for food....thats how you both flatten and tenderize
you need to hit it with a meat mallet
just step on it!Let the air out of it.

goodyear WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO DO THAT
place the chicken breast in plastic wrap and then take a mallet and beat it flat.
Wrap it in plastic wrap and beet it flat. This also works for steaks. I season the meat before hammering it, it puts it all through the meat.Use a meat hammer or a rolling pin to beat it with.smash it with a mallet. it'd be a good idea to cover it in saran first so it doesn't splatter all over and do it gently as not to tear it. damn what those things called..it looks like a sledge hammer ..basicly you have to take the chicken breast and split it in the middle and beat it flat
Put it between two pices of wax paper, or plastic wrap, I like wax paper better, and then smash it down with a meat mallet, or you can use a heavy sauce pan, pouncing it down to the thickness that the recipe requires.
sledge hammerUse a hammer. You can use a flat meat mallet or a rolling pin. Put the chicken in between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound away!
alright it is an ancient chinese recipe. soak it in milk. the longer u soak it the more tender it becomes. then u pound it like u would a steak or piece of lamb. if u were to add bread crumbs and egg to it the chicken would auto matically flatten for you. when u push down on it good luck for best results soak at least 8 hours this is for any meat because the milk breaks down the meat particles
Put the chicken meat between two sheets of plastic wrap. Use a mallet or something similar (the heavy end of a wine bottle, maybe), and literally pound on the chicken until it is flattened.you go to a kitchen supply store and buy a meat tenderizer and beat the chicken breast. Or something heavy with a wide flat bottom would work. Also wrap the chicken in plastic wrap so that you don't make a mess. Put it in between some saran wrap or wax paper and use a mallet, dont hit it too hard or you will actually break it up.
With a mallet or tenderizer. Place some plastic wrap over the meat and pound the heck out of it.

I saw it on Martha yesterday!
Hit the chicken fillet with a rolling pin or if you are careful you can use a bottle I'm sorry I can't help it, use a steam roller to help flatten the chicken breast.
First put the chicken between two pieces of saran wrap. If you have a mallet then go ahead and pound the meat. A good substitute would be to use a rolling pin instead of the mallet.
what everyone else saidYou will find that a chicken breast has a natural fold or pocket. You just need to take a very sharp knife and assist it into becoming a book fold. Then you can carefully lay it flat. Sometimes one can even make two 'folds' like a three-part brochure (if you see what I mean). If it needs a bit of help getting flat enough, a little light pounding with a rolling pin helps (not too much, or you will shred it!). IT'S REAL EASY. TAKE A PIECE OF WAX PAPER OR MAYBE A LARGE ZIP LOCK BAG AND COVER THE CHICKEN. (AFTER YOU WASH IT OFF,OF COURSE) TAKE A MEAT TENDERIZER TOOL OR A ROLLING PIN AND BEAT THE MEAT DOWN. BE EASY ON THE EDGES OR IT WILL CRUSH IT TOO MUCH. START IN THE MIDDLE AND WORK TO THE OUTSIDE. THIS SHOULD BE A CHICKEN BREAST WITH NO SKIN ON IT. THIS WILL SPREAD THE MEAT OUT SO YOU CAN PUT STUFF ON IT AND ROLL IT UP. HAVE FUN. WATCH OUT BECAUSE IT CAN SQUIRT A LITTLE SOMETIMES.
first you should butterfly the chicken, place between two sheets of plastic wrap, and pound it, I use the bottom of a small drinking glass. When pounding, kind of push away from you, almost in a smearing fashion
i place it in wax paper or saran wrap then give it a wack with something heavy like my skillet or pots...i have even pounded it with the hammer or a can of something...they do have correct kitchen tools for it (meat pounder) but the cooks on tv say u don't need it when u have something heavy around!correctness,It's Non-profit and only for informational purposes.
