Or "how do you know your unpeeled avacado has gone bad?"

What is the shelf life?

How do you know it is ripe?

Answers:
when ripe, it should be firm, but not hard when pressed gently. After cutting open it should be used immediately, or rubbed with some lemon juice to keep it from turning brown, and kept in the fridge for no more than a day

Other Answers:
It should just yield to slight pressure. Then it's perfect.

if it feels like its all mushy inside its f*cked
if it is bullet hard its unripe

Well make sure there is no fuzz on it, if it is a color other than green (or black) I wouldnt touch it - if it smells kinda funny.. If it has turned dark brown, shrinked in size real wrinkled. It is bad. If it is just real soft cut it it is most likely okay.

it shouldn't be too dark on the outside, and when pressed lightly it shouldn't have a soggy feel, also smell, they shouldn't smell sour.

if it's soft and mushy
