says to place washed potatoes in a microwave safe bowl. The closest we have to that is a plastic thing from the Chinese restaurant. Will paper kitchen towel work just as well? I think I've seen my mum use it, but I just want to make sure.
Answers:
A paper towel would be fine. Make sure to poke holes in the potato though otherwise it might blow up.
Other Answers:
Poke holes in that spud with a fork first, so it doesn't explode. Then sure, go ahead and use wax paper, paper towel, whatever is microwave safe.
My best advice is to wash the potato and then wrap it in a baggy or a piece of saran wrap. They stay moister that way. And the poking holes is a good idea too. Remember that the potato continues to cook for 1 to 2 minutes after it is removed from the microwave. They get pretty darn hot! Stick a fork in it and then place it in the microwave. Then keep your face as close to the microwave as you can so you can see when it is done.
yes.
Wrap aluminum foil around it.Source(s):
I did it twice...lol
ask ur friend They don't have to be in a bowl, yes a paper towel will work just fine and be sure to cut an end off and poke it several times so it doesn't explode on you, that's a mess. and don't cook it too long.
yes it will, make sure you dry and prick the potatoe first though!!!
We slice a washed potato in half lengthwise, place a bay leaf in between and hold them together with a rubberband (believe it or not) and microwave on high for about 8 to 10 minutes and they're great...I do miss the crispy baked skin though that you can only get in a standard oven, but they're very good.We got this tip from one of Julia Child's cooking shows years ago and have been doing it ever since.
Please don't wrap your potato in tin foil and then put it in the microwave!
Wash your potato and then poke it several times with a fork or a knife. Place it either on a piece of paper towel or directly on the tray in the microwave. Cook it on high about 5-6 min for one potato checking it every so often by piercing it. Sometimes it takes a little more or less time. If you overbake it in the microwave it actually gets hard as a rock and black inside. And smells terrible. Don't do that, I already did.
