Shepherd's Pie Recipe

A shepherd's pie recipe with beef.

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups cooked chopped meat
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
2 cups gravy
salt and pepper
2 cups mashed potato, prepared with milk and seasonings as desired
salt and pepper
1/8 teaspoon paprika
1 tablespoon butter

PREPARATION:

Combine meat, gravy, and chopped onion; season with salt and pepper to taste. Line the bottom of a buttered baking dish with a layer of half of the seasoned mashed potatoes. Add meat mixture then cover with remaining mashed potatoes. Or, meat and gravy can be put in the baking dish first then topped with all of the mashed potatoes. Dot mashed potato topping with butter, sprinkle with salt, pepper, and paprika, then bake for about 30 minutes at 400°, or until potato topping is browned and the Shepherd's pie is thoroughly heated.
This shepherd's pie recipe serves 4.

Ask the germans.
No, it's made with shepherds. You know, the guys who carry the staffs with the funny hooked tops. :P
no, true shepherd's pie is made with lamb but usually it's made with beef
Shepperd's pie is made with Lamb....historically......get it....Shepperd?.......it is an inverted meal with the mashed potatoes on top.....bottom layer...seasoned, cooked Lamb....the next layer...buttered corn....the next...Mashed potatoes....all of the ingredients go in warm......it is baked for presentation....kind of a twice baked potato....using this format...you could use German Shepperd...but my Mexican friends tell me dog tastes better in a taco..
Unfortunately, shepherd's pie is made with lamb...
: (

It would be much more amusing if it was made with shepherds!!!

BTW, if it's made with beef it's called a 'cottage pie' ... even though there are no cottages in it!!!

(Disgraceful, that's what I call it!! Talk about misleading advertising... moan moan moan...!!)
; )
Alrighty, simple answer. There are all sorts of recipes and the ingredients vary a lot but the 'Shepperd's' in the name refers to sheep herders not dogs.
No, it isn't.
One can only hope. I always thought it was made with sheep.
Who told you?
No one was suppose to know!!!
