Yes you can use whole wheat flour in moderation in a planned diet. The Sugar Busters diet advocates avoiding foods with a high glycemic index or in other words you should avoid refined sugars, flours or any carbohydrates that cause a rapid increase in insulin which in turn increases the storage of fat. The index used by Sugar Busters places the most common foods into one of three levels. Either High, Moderate, or Low. Breads and pastas made with whole wheat flours fall in the Moderate range. What hurts is that most of the foods that I love are in the High range and should be avoided.
