I would really like to make a mango sorbet for a 4th of July gathering, but I don't want to purchase an ice cream maker. Is there any way to freeze the sorbet without a maker and without it freezing into a block of mango ice?

Answers:
Well I'm not sure. You can make homemade icecream without a maker. Try it with sorbet. The link is below.

Personal try

i babysat for this family last summer and they made sorbet by freezing it in an ice cube tray, then blending the ice cubes together and refreezing them separately in the trays again, and then they blending it again and froze it all together and it came out pretty good. I saw one time where someone took frozen (slightley thawed) rasberries and added a little sugar and some OJ as a liquid and put it in a food prosessor to get it smooth and then put it in a bowl and froze it and it looked totaly yummy.....i wanna say it was a food network special...try like Semi homemade w/ Sandra Lee or Paula Dean...so i would say u could do it with frozen mango's

Sounds Yummy!!

yeah get all your ingredients, mix it together. the key is to put some kind of anti-freeze in the sorbet so that it wont be rock solid when you pull it out of the freezer. vodka works very well. just add a few ounces of vodka to every quart of sorbet you are making(and mix it in very well). should keep the sorbet soft. make sure to use a vodka that isnt too strong or else it will overwhelm your sorbet.
