I'm getting conflicting information. I just visited a store and the advertising and instruction manuals there made no mention of smoking, although they talked about a lot of other cooking methods. Do you have experience with LP gas grills and if you know how to smoke food with one, how do you do it?

Answers:
the previous suggestions are pretty good.
I would agree with those.

Other Answers:
Wood chips soaked on water for a while over LOW heat will give you as smoked a flavor as you can get with gas.

Yeah. Buy a bag of hickory wood chips and put them in a metal can on the grill with the bbq lid shut I suggest you try Betty Crocker.com and other recipe sites to help you with this question. I don't suggest trying to do wood burning in a gas grill of any kind. Get a cheepo grill if you are going to do that. Otherwise, check out an actual food smoker. Works much better.

Make a tinfoil pouch and seal in your wood chips, poke holes in the pouch and put the pouch on the lava rock or ceramic briquettes. There is no need to soak the wood chips first. This method works very well. If you soak the chips it will take longer to begin smoking.
