Answers:
Yes. Consider the cost of a nice Delmonico steak at $9.00/lb. A bag of prepared salad greens is about $3.00. (It's cheaper if you prepare your own, and I'm going to consider the cost of the entire bag!) Add tomatoes, avocados, bacon, onion... your choice. Another $5.00. Purchase two gorgeous Idaho baking potatoes. $2.00. Buy sour cream and butter. (Yum!) $4.00.

You've got an exquisite meal for two for under $25.00. Add the wine -- you'll pay more for that at the restaurant, anyway. You KNOW the ingredients for the dessert will be less than buying the dessert at the restaurant. In fact, buying a whole NY cheesecake at the grocery store will be less than buying two slices of cheesecake at the restaurant!

Besides, you don't have to pay the rooms and meals tax or leave a tip!!!

The only thing that I know to be significantly more expensive to make at home than to purchase at the store is preserves (jellies and jams). While I prefer homemade, they are definitely more expensive.

Other Answers:
Oh yeah.

I think it depends on the restaurant and how many people are eating. Yes just for example you can make a whole pan of lasagna for approximately $15 that will be at least two meals for a family of four (give or take) you get a slice of lasagna at a nice restaurant for $7.00

not at all,
you can find great deals outside when you eat out...but on top of that it's saves you hours of cooking and preparing time over the week and enhances your diner experience

yeah, and much healthier. Eating out.....the servings portions and TOO large and too much fat and you also tend to over-eat. So home cooked food is the way to go! Simple meals at home are cheaper, yes.

I guess If it is a micorwave frozen meal oh yeah!

Way cheaper!
Even when you buy more "expensive" grocery items it works out to be cheaper than a restaurant.
(But it is still nice to go out sometimes.)
;)

depends on if you are a good shopper or not. :)

if you go out and buy everything you need for a nice dinner at home it will be more expensive... i mean, down to spices and stuff for steaks... but if you already have it... probably cheaper.

its definately more romantic. :)

It can be. It all depends on the food. If you make a nice dinner at home like spaghetti (let's say for 2 people) it can cost about $15 at the grocery store. If you go to a restaurant it can cost about $30 for two people. It all depends on the restaurant because some are cheap and some are expensive. yeah especially vegetarian food cooked from fresh

yep. cook half a pound of bacon, becareful not to burn it. drain, set aside, and open a can of baked beans. dump can of beans into the greasy skillet. warm up beans. crumble up bacon into beans. get a small onion, and dice it up. put onion into beans. use one table spoon of mustard, one quarter cup of ketchup, and stir it all up. simmer for about twenty minutes, and you will not believe that you hadn't done it before. have a tupperware container for left overs, and you even have a nice little lunch for tommorow.

gotta shop smart and use coupons.

it can be I think eating at home save u money, time and gas lol

I would rather eat a nice slap up meal at home than have a meal in a resturant because at home you can relax but in a resturant you are paying out for this and for that so eating at home is a lot cheaper than eating out.......... yes i have 5 kids and can come up with some very yummy things to eat that are good and cheap . plus you know what is or is not going into the food

Yess very much, mostly everyone feels so unless they have some problem in cooking at home. Moreover you can prepare anything u wish in ur own style with improvisations for the available recipes even if u r not a pro. That saves not only money but also time and cooking at home is always more hygienic and safe, the kind of oil u can use...if u wish u can avoid more of grease which is a sure no no while eating out.

yes b/c you can eat on left overs for a couple of days. and if you make italian then you can freeze it and then eat it another day> :D

Yes, it's also alot healthy. Besides that it's quieter and more sanitary. Consider when you eat out you pay 1.50 up for a drink, then you pay for your main meal then dessert. after your meal you leave a tip. If you really weigh your options eating a home costs a lot less. If planned correctly you will usually have 3 or more complete meals that are better than most you can buy out for one person. Of course you can get carried away with what you consider nice. Lobster and fillet mignons still will cost you, but home cookin will save you cash.

yes I bought really nice filet minogn from Bjs for $23 (there were 4 in a pack) double the size that you would get at a restraunt. I made baked potatoes a salad and a vegie go to a restraunt and you'll spend $20+ for one plate
