When you're "gettin down n dirty," and "cookin up a storm"..... I mean you're having a really good time cookin an all, what are you usually preparing?

Please elaborate and entertain us! Please have fun and even throw in some of your local colloquialism while writing your piece.

Answers:
Well, I'm a Southerner, so "cookin up a storm" is a regular part of my vernacular.

Typically I am at my best when I'm preparing omelettes.

Ahm choppin' tha onions, dicin' tha ham, fryin up tha bacon in the old fryin pan.

Crackin tha eggs, meltin' tha cheese, you eat this dish, you'll fall to yo' knees.

The bacon's poppin, the eggs are just right, open up wide kids, it's chicken delight.

But git back and watch, don't stand too near, and while yer up honey, go get me uh beer!

Concoctions! It's my son's word for just about every dish he makes and my new term for 'experimental cooking'!
A cheesecake.....I love to make cheesecake!
Okay Now! I'm really in the kitchen and having a good time. Let's see what am I really cooking.
Oh yea, now I know!! I'm usually cooking angel rolls, (which makes a big mess, and you get a big kiss.) Then there's porkn'beans, fresh cream corn (from the garden, which makes an even better mess. And your bf offers to help so that he can make a bigger mess by stopping you often.) Then there's the big huge moist chocolate cake, with hot fudge sauce.( Which has to be really all made by scratch just to please your man and make him happy.)
Then you clean up the whole big mess while he takes it easy. But to make it even better sing his favorite song with out the cd.

Apple dumplings are fun.
CURRIED SEAOOD CHOWDER

Fish, squid. mussels and shrimp (can use frozen)
1 or 2 onions, sliced
2 garlic cloves, minced
Potatoes, cut into bite-sized pieces and parboiled
Chicken and/or fish broth
Curry powder - use a good one, not the grocery store average
Soy sauce
Heavy cream
Roux
Something hot, like cayenne pepper or sambal oolek (optional)
Olive oil

Cut the fish and squid into bite-sized pieces. Peel the shrimp leaving the last bit of tail on. Cut the shrimp lengthwise down to where the tail is still connected and remove the black vein. Set the seafood aside.

Sauté the onion and garlic in oil, adding curry powder to taste (I use quite a lot) and (optional) hot spice after a bit. Add the broth, stirring, a little at a time. Add a dash of soy sauce. Add the half-cooked potatoes. Bring to a slow boil and cook until the onion is tender.

Turn up the heat and add the seafood. By the time it boils the seafood will be about done. The shrimp will curl outward from the tail and look sort of like ram’s horns. When it reaches this point, add the cream (the amount depends on your taste). Thicken with roux and let it cook only long enough to get rid of the floury taste.

This is my own concoction. It is not hard to make. You can really dazzle your guests with it. But just you put the cream into the pot it looks terrible. It takes a lot of courage to make this for the first time!
