Baked Ziti
?2006 by Natalya Jackson

You will need:

1 large frying pan, 1 medium pot, 1 baking pan
1 pound ziti (or rigatoni) pasta, uncooked
1 pound ground beef
? fresh garlic
1 zucchini
1 green bell pepper
1 large yellow onion (or two little ones)
? pound mushrooms
2 pounds shredded mozzarella cheese (or other Italian-style white cheese)
1 jar Prego Fresh Mushroom spaghetti sauce (or half a jar if it’s the big plastic jar)
Basil
Paprika
Cooking oil or margarine

What you do:

Chop up vegetables and garlic; vegetable pieces should be no larger than one inch square, garlic should be minced (not crushed) as finely as possible. When vegetables are ready to cook, put on a pot of water so it will be boiling about the time the vegetables are done cooking. Using cooking oil or margarine, sauté zucchini, mushrooms, onion, bell pepper, and ? of the garlic you chopped until all vegetables are tender. Stir them frequently, sprinkling with basil and paprika to aid browning. When vegetables are finished, set them aside for later use. If the water is boiling now, add the pasta and a splash of oil to keep the noodles from sticking. Turn the oven on 400 degrees now so it will be preheated when you need it. Using the same pan you just cooked the vegetables in (to flavor the meat like the veggies and spices), brown the hamburger meat with the larger portion of the garlic. Drain well; put the vegetables back in with the meat. Add the spaghetti sauce, mix well, and simmer on low heat until the pasta is cooked. When the pasta and sauce are both ready, lightly grease the baking pan with oil. Spread half of the noodles evenly over the bottom of the baking pan, followed by half of the sauce, then half of the cheese. Layer one more time with the rest (noodles, sauce, cheese). Put the whole thing in the oven for about 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and edges are just beginning to brown. Carefully remove from oven (very hot) and enjoy!
