Maybe you could spiffy up their dining room, make them a nice dinner of their favorite foods, serve them with candlelight, send them to a movie, and clean up while they are gone.

if your parents are diabetic or health conscious, you could always bake them a sugarfree, low fat pastry or better yet, make an original recipe using their favorite munchees:D
Just tell them how much they mean to you and how much you love and respect them..tell them that they mean the world to you... trust me thats better than any gift in the world..

u know what? bcoz as time past by and even u leaveur home years after, they will still remember u just seeing the card wherein what u feel for them are enclosed
What do you know about their courtship? What would have been fine dining when they were dating?
Get the matching waitress outfit, the music of the day, table cloth and of course the food and drink they might loved to have had and give it to them - their perfect evening in. Talk to their brothers and sister, bridesmaid and best man - I bet they would get really enthusiastic and help out.
Make them a scrapbook. This will take some time and effort but if you can find some pictures of them together throughout the years...maybe even from their childhood, to teens, when they first met, got married, had children, b-days, anniversarys etc etc. You can buy a simple photo album, decorate it with handmade stencils etc, put silly, cute, and sentimental captions with each pic.
This is something from the heart that they can cherish forever.

well if your a kid you could maybe make a scrapbook about yuor family times.But if your a parent maybe you could make them a candle all you have to do is get crayons rip the rapper off and melt the crayon in a pot then poor it into a glass let it dry and there you go.
write down how much they mean to you and what you really feel for them. be original (don't take it off a fancy greeting card!). leave it in a place where they will surely find it. that'll be a simple and a sweet surprise!
