Sorry never heard of it before, well never heard of "broil" before.
It's great on the grill. Marinate it first in this recipe:
2 Tblsp soy sauce
2 Tblsp sherry
2 Tblsp sugar
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 Tsp ground ginger
salt & pepper
Broil or grill 10 minutes per side (approx.--depending on size and preference as to doneness.) Cut on slant across the grain.
I usually purchase a marinade specifically for a London Broil. However, a very easy substitute is 1 envelope of GOOD SEASONS Zesty Italian Salad Dressing & Recipe Mix, 2 tablespoons of dry white wine and 2 tablespoons of oil.
When marinating the steak be careful -- if there is a lot of marinade on the outside of the meat, the marinade may burn before the meat is thoroughly cooked. Once you've chosen or prepared your marinade, follow these directions -- it'll come out perfectly every time!
Score steak on both sides, being careful not to cut more than 1/8 inch into each side of steak. Place steak in shallow dish.
BRUSH both sides of steak evenly with the salad dressing mixture; cover. Refrigerate 30 minutes to marinate. Remove steak from marinade; discard marinade.
PREHEAT broiler. Broil, 2 to 3 inches from heat, for 6 to 7 minutes on each side for medium doneness (160°F). With knife slanted, cut steak across the grain into thin slices.

This is by far the best recipe for London Broil. I've been using this recipe since 1974 and my family and friends love it.

? c. cider vinegar
1 tsp. salt
? tsp. pepper
2 tsp. dry mustard
2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

Place garlic in large shallow pan. Blend remaining ingredients except meat. Place steak in pan; pour marinade over meat. Marinate overnight. Broil steak 2 to 3 inches below heat, allowing 3 to 4 minutes for each side. Carve diagonally across grain into thin slices.
Marinade may be refrigerated and used for other meats, fish, or poultry.
