The same as the 1st answer said( very informative answer she gave you) But I deep fry mine instead of sautee in butter, it's just a personal preference.
Boil a pot of water. When the water is boiling, put the pierogies in the water and cook until they all float.
You can sautee onions in butter and serve that with the pierogies. Some people deep fry them, and some people serve them with sour cream.

They cook well boiled as discussed. You can also cook them on a George Foreman grill. You can cook them in a pot of boiling water until they float to the top, about 5-8 minutes or so, then heat up some butter in a frying pan then add the drained pierogies to the pan and fry until golden brown on both sides. I sometimes chop up some garlic and onions and add them to the frying pan and cook with the pierogies for some extra flavor.
I just boil them for a few minutes and put butter and garlic ad parmesan cheese on them. You can also fry them in a skillet after boiling but that just adds time and effort and doesn't make them taste that much better. I love pierogies.
