You've got to be kidding me right? I know you're probably not using bagged popcorn, but still.
Put the kernals in a MICROWAVE SAFE bowl or pan and put it in for about 3-4 minutes. Most newer microwaves have a "Popcon" button that is still usable for kernals.
A much easier way is popping them on the stove.

Read the back of the popcorn package, put the bag in the microwave, then set the timer for whatever time the package says.

the directions on the back of the package is the way to go about it...it takes about 3 mins ... place a dish under the package so that the popcorn does not burn... it works every time... dont use a plastic, metal or paper dish.. it has to be a regular dinner plate.
