Answers:
You can substitute butter for margerine and vice versa, but some professional bakers prefer real butter, claiming a more pure butter flavor and better consistency than the hydrogenated vegetable oils of margerine. Plus, even though you're making cupcakes and probably don't care as much about health benefits, there is some research that points toward the trans fatty acids of margerine as possible carcinogens, since they've been artificially made into to saturated fats in order to be solid at room temperature... but if the cupcakes are for someone else and won't be consumed by your family or loved ones, go ahead with the margerine if that's what you've got *grin*

yes Yes, it's the same thing to me.

YES!! The taste may be a bit different, but I always substituted the two and they came out fine.

yes

Or olive oil, or applesauce...

YES

Yes unless the recipe specifically states not to substitute. ya OK this time but don't try it again or i'm going to tell.

Sounds yummy and you can absolutely use margarine instead of butter.

Cheers

yes!! In almost every recipe you can sub. margarine for butter. In cake recipe it will turn out about the same and you will not be able to tell the difference

Yes you can use margarine.

You can, but margarine is awfull. You can put it out on a sidewalk, and bugs won't eat it. It is like plastic. Use real butter, or a different butter substitute.

Of course you can yes

yes butter flavored margarin though
