Answers:
I went from 255lbs to 155lbs in less than a year. However, I did not do the high protein diet. According to my physician the body will refuse to metabolize carbohydrates if you live off high protein only. Instead, I lowered my carb intake, started swimming, and I learned to change my habits.

What I did and still do is this:
I eat low carb bread, drink only diet sodas and water, and will not eat a lot of pasta and potatoes or rice. Only a little. Instead, I eat lots of fruit and vegetables. In addition to that, I stop eating when I am full, no matter how much is left on the plate. You can do this. The trick is to drink plenty of fluid(water)right before you start eating. You will see how fast you are full. Then, eat slower. Plus, make sure you never get too hungry, because that is when we tend to overeat. But most of all, reward yourself too. I have one weekend in a month which I call my "pigging out" days. I eat what I want--whatever I want at that time, weather it is pizza, or candy bars, or chocolate cake. But only once a month.

To encourage myself do I still have a picture of a real fat woman very visible on my refrigerator door. That picture will always give you a damper--I don't want to go back to those days.

Give it a try. Don't think that you have to lose 50lbs either. Think about 15 or 20 lbs and when you lost those think about losing more--if you set your goal too high you might fail.

But most of all, keep in mind that even if you "relapse" during a diet, it is no reason to give up. Because losing weight is not about a specific diet, it is about changing your eating habits rather than what you eat. I do not eat any diet foods. The only "diet" things I have is diet soda, and "Rice Dream" milk because I have a milk intolerance. I eat smoked sausage with eggs and cheese for breakfast, a piece of fish or meat with salad for lunch and a few crackers in between, and for supper I have a sandwhich or two. In between I eat fruits. Ever since I started to eat that way and got away from all that cereal do I feel better, get less hungry and have more energy.
Good Luck

yes

do that, but also cut down your carbs to only about 20-30g a day forget the fads. cut calories and exercise. that is the best way. i am a nutritionist

You will do much better by cutting your portions in half and increasing your exercise level. Most people fail to lose weight because they diet only and don't exercise.

go to a site called just4weeks.co.uk in that site you will find details of the oils used to suppliment the diet. it will mean changing your diet but not to fat free or anything silly. however a BBC programme followed a member of the study and she was 300 pounds. She lost it and then was able to carry on a normal life. I used it and lost 15 kg in 3 months. Give it a go what have you to loose.

Please, please listen to me. Losing weight is easy. Losing weight sensibly is not.
Try not to lose more than 1 lb per wk. That's right , I said 1 lb per wk. Just make sure you have enough fats in your diet, as in olive oil, fats from nuts, such as pecans, almonds, and walnuts.
Fats are not the enemy. Calories are.
Good fats increase good cholesterol, and make you healthier. Fats from meats do not. I am not a vegetarian, nor do I aspire to be one. However, fats from nuts do lessen bad cholesterol, and do increase good CH.
Lots more where this came from. Just be good, and survive!! Eat whatever you want, just lower the amount you eat. Drink more water and get a mountain bike . The bike will make exercise fun. Good luck.
