Apparently the top places that sell it in Japan have to have one fatal incident every few years. If they have more than that no-one will eat there and they'll lose their business very quickly - but less than that and people stop believing they're actually selling the real (and very very expensive) stuff.
Just goes to show that in this age of global companies and standardisation some cultures are just very very different from ours...

Yes and it is delicious! I don't even like fish but the puffer fish and dolphin (maui maui - not the mammal), are great tasting.

Yes,I ate other poisonous fishes without knowing in advance.Sometimes,vomiting,but some other times,vomiting and diarrhea.Even prepared properly,but the poison exist still in the food.Anyway,while you meet this kind of food poisoning,refer at once to the nearest hospital.
No but I think that would be a great experience. I've heard it's very good. the most outlandish thing I've tried was Caviar. Yea it was expensive, but totally worth it!

yes. i died becasue of it, unfortunatly, but it was good while it lasted.
