I made some ceviche today but it doesn't taste right, it's not bad but it's not like what I eat at the Mexican restaurants either. it's possible you took too long to put it all together.
all i can recommend is -in a strainer and rinse in cold water place in fridge and do the lemon thing ,add some fresh cilantro and onions reseason and leave a-couple hours in the fridge -(hope you used a ceramic bowl to prep this cause plastic,wood and bamboo tends to absorb smells.
not sure but here is a great link to the different ways to prepare the dish according to the country maybe one of these recipes will be more what you are looking for. Heads up i;ve never made a dish that came from a restaurant and got the same taste?
your suppose to cook it in limon maybe you did leave in long enough
If the fish smelled fishy it probably wasn't as fresh as most restaurants use. I don't know of a way to fix it, sorry hon!
If it smells like fish, then the fish isn't fresh. [ this is a great rule for susihi bars as well, If you can smell fish don't eat it] Make sure you have enough lemon and / or lime. Make sure your cevechi "cooks" in the Refrigerator. Only use the freshest fish. [no smell].
