Answer:
Cut each potato into 4 bits, which gives you 28 bits then give each person 7 bits of potato.

Ie each person gets 1 and 3/4 potatoe
mash them lol
Mash 'em - that would be the best thing - or you could chop them up and cook with onions - that would easily serve 4.

I hope this is what you were asking, otherwise, nevermind
Mashed Spud?
Easy; 1 each w/ 3 left over. Der.

Peel and slice or shred into a casserole

Bake a whole one for each person, keep the other 3 for later use.

Bake 2, split in half, scoop out, doctor filling up to make Twice-Baked, restuff, and save the rest of the potatoes for later.

Make Oven Roasted Potatoes

4 pounds 2- to 2 1/2-inch-diameter Yukon Gold potatoes, unpeeled, each cut into 6 wedges
1 cup chopped shallots (about 5 large)
1/2 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon coarse kosher salt
1 teaspoon ground black pepper

6 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, divided
4 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme

Add potatoes to large pot of boiling salted water. Cook 6 minutes and drain. Toss potatoes with shallots, oil, salt, and pepper in large bowl to coat. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cool slightly, then cover and refrigerate.)

Preheat oven to 400°F. Lightly oil 2 rimmed baking sheets. Divide potatoes between prepared baking sheets. Roast 35 minutes. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons parsley and 2 teaspoons thyme over potatoes on each sheet. Using metal spatula, turn potatoes to coat. Roast until brown and tender, about 20 minutes longer. Transfer to serving bowl, sprinkle with remaining 2 tablespoons parsley, and serve.
mash them, or cut them up and fry them.
By cutting them up. With an implement called a knife..
Just when you thought you asked a smart question, people told you to make mashed potatoes.
Mashed potatoes
Cut them all in half and make twice baked potatoes out of them. If you are preplating give each person one and then perhaps put out a plate with the extras if any of your guests would like them. Or just make mashed potatoes~!
chop each potato in to quarters. this will give you 28 slices.
mash, chips, or divide the four people to suit 7 spuds
Mash 'em!! or chip them and cook 'em in the oven!!
Make chip's ?
mash or dice them--or just make 4 potates. By the time they eat the other things with the meal, they will only need one potato each.
Give them 1 and 3/4 of a potato each
Make chips out of them.
Each person gets one and 3/4 of a potato. Or, three people get two potatoes, and the last gets on (for being late to the party).
Mash them or make scalloped or au gratin potatoes.
MASHED POTATOES!
u could mash them but if u want to keep the potato intact, give everyone a whole potato and 3/4.
Mashed or make into chips?? Or give one to each person and see who wants a second one (if roasted/baked/boiled...) and hope not everyone does.
you give them each one and a half potatoes, then give the rest to a pet.
Dont mash you will end up with what looks like less!
Why dont you cover the with mayo and chop them roughly then put them in a dish and let people help themselves. (kind of like a potato salad) OR
Mix them in with vegetables so it makes it look more.
Make them mashed ???
Dice, shred, grate, mash whatever lol as long as you do not serve them whole.
Slice each potato into 4 parts, cook them as chunky chips and give 7 to each person.
Oh dear that's a dilema I've had to face. Well dear I just make chips, everyone likes them.
Reading all these answers is so entertaining! Okay, mathematically it makes sense to cut each potato into 4 relatively equal-sized pieces, and then serve each person 7 of them. But, hey, that's a lot of potatoes! So, realistically, maybe mash 'em, or make them scalloped, or au gratin, or still cut them up into those 28 pieces to roast with olive oil and rosemary or whatever...then just serve normal looking portions, or even allow your guests to serve themselves...and then you get to enjoy those yummy leftovers! Or make potato doggy bags! Or both!
