Mike said: oh,no,you are wrong.I have found as below for this question(How come the food network says BBQ is a black tradition, but if I mention that t),it will help you,my kids.

Answer:
i don't know that is a good question because in my family it is a tradition but i have white friends who make the same claim
Because they can. Some people have nothing better to do.
bbq is a black tradition and thats not a bad thing. i love bbq. as far as why they yell racism im not sure. i think some people think all white people are racist and its just not true. sure some are. but so are other races not just whites. i think we have made some strides in this country for equality. i hope it continues i know my young white son will not be raised a racist and i hope his friends will feel the same way.
Because some African-Americans look for any opportunity to yell "Racism" over anything

BBQ has probably been around since cave men had fire, a stick and a piece of meat (the sauce must have come later). I talked with Chinese and have been told that their BBQ has been around for thousands of years. BTW they use bamboo for smoking.
BBQ started when prehistoric woman had to cook for her lazy assed husband over an open fire.
they think it is, mate
Traditions are made by a generation and today's generation is making its own marks. Some obviously don't BBQ and that's OK, I'm sure they are doing wonderful other things that will live on to the next generation. Smile and walk away.
I thnk the caveman probably was the inventor of BBQ
Who cares, just eat up.
Surprise, surprise. Barbecue was not invented in America and no one knows who invented the barbecue. The word 'Barbecue' might come from the Taino Indian word 'barbacoa' meaning meat-smoking aparatus. 'Barbecue' could have also originated from the French word "Barbe a queue" which means "whiskers-to-tail." No one is sure of the correct origins of the word.
My take on it is that several millennia ago man discovered fire, that evening he invented BBQ.
I love BBQ and I think it is a good tradition for Black people. Totally unlike the white tradition of serial killing. Which, by the way, when i mention to white people they get up set. How come?
Because the food network is wrong on this one.

Roasting foods oven open flames or over hot coals or within enclosed spaces with heat sources, with or without a sauce, is an ancient cooking method. Every culture has their own variation of this one.
why don't you ask the black people in question?
it sounds as if they have a story to tell.
Because they are racists themselves. Hey I like Watermelon and Fried Chicken too! But mention That to a black person and it's Watts all over again.
next time tell them you ate some bbq and a black MAN made it. then say it was the best you had eva(ever) ate. then ask them that question.and as for all the other dumb answers you have its the FOOD NETWORK for a reason.
