I saw some in a supermarket and was wondering how to serve it like German ppl.

Answer:
I am from Germany and we made a salad.

Dorschleber Salad

1/2 lb (250 g) tinned cod liver same as Dorschleber
5 oz (150 g) tinned green peas
2 boiled egg
1 onion
3 tbsp vegetable oil
2 lemons
dill greens weed
salt to taste
1 boiled potato
Directions:
Cut cod liver, egg yolks and potato into small bricks, chop onion. Combine prepared products, salt, stir up, put in the salad bowl and pour with oil. Decorate the salad with lemon segments, chopped egg whites and dill weed.
Try Dorschleber with water crackers or on toast for a canape or appetizer, or on thinly sliced and lightly browned potato for a little heavier treat, perhaps with a bit of garlic butter, a squeeze of lemon and, if you're really going "out" some shaved truffles!

A well-chilled dry white wine, and you're on your way!
