Answer:
Begin by cutting off most of the stem then gather a bunch of the greens roll them up and cut the in strips. wash them in cold water and table salt to get any bugs and sand or dirt off repeat this process a few time until there is no grit at the bottom of your sink. Now add them to your pot of water that has been boiling with some kind of smoke meat i.e. turkey wings ham hocks turkey necks smoke ribs sweet meat anything like that will do and also help to season the water before the greens go in. Taste the water to see if it may be to salty for your taste or just enough so that you won't need to add any more salt until the greens begin to cook down . I use fresh garlic and onion red pepper to taste cook until tender time can very i cook mine slowly about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Enjoy .
first u have to pick the off the stem, then u let them soak in water for about 20 mins. then boil them fokr 30 mins to an hour.
Put them in a pot of water and add hamhocks and sal and pepper and hot sauce add some butter or fatback
With the greens covered in water, salted to taste and cooked with fatback or salt bacon. Just cook them until tender. Easy!
Well,I'm not sure if you'll like this way.I'm afrid I don't know a healthy way lol.The way in the South is w/bacon key ingredient.Cook the bacon and leave all the bacon grease in and "smother" the greens in it.meaning cook it down in it.Sounds like too much use ham..but the bacon grease gives greens that flavor..when you eat it.put a little viegar.mmm C'est si bon!
Im black, and I dont know how to make colla greens niether. my family tease me about it. I jus say whateva.
I am not going to repeat basic instructions to cooking collard greens. Except this: Make sure water is boiling hot, salted/seasoned to taste, (I prefer olive oil on some occassions and meat at other times). Make sure greens are covered, pushing them down in water when no - t a good 20 mins, and sometimes a little more. They are so healthy, calcium rich and delicious.
wash them strip them wash them add to a tll pot of boiling water with and some type of meet usually smoked or sweet. and most important the proper amount of seasoning.
