Answer:
depends on were u are. if u are in nigeria and u want the original, u gatta work hard for it. u boil it, make it real soft, ( i put sugar in ma boiling yam especially if its new yam) then put it in the pounding bucket(its wooden i cant remember wat its called) then use the pounder(wooden as well) and pound d yam, dnt put all the yam at once, just be adding it as ur pounding it..so u dnt have too many lumps. and be addin water as well so it doesnt get too dry.. turn it very well check for lumps and wen its pounded to ur level; of satisfaction, then u put it on ur plate with ur efo egunsi or watever ur eating with it. if the pouding is too much for u , just buy the powder and do it the normal way...its easier..lol.
isnt it just mashed sweet potatoes?
Its all about getting the right tool for the job. Where ever you get the yams, ask. I am sure they can help you.
First yams are washed, peeled, cut up and boiled until soft. Then you pound the cooked yams with a pestle and mortar until the yam has the consistency of baker’s dough.
boiled and bite it
I'm assuming you mean fufu. In Nigeria they are pounded with what looks like oversized mortar and pestle.
To make them cut and boil the yams until a fork pierces them easily like as for mashed potatoes. Drain off the liquid and mash with a potato masher.
Enjoy with Nigerian Stew!
