Answer:
OH! Lola!

well, i don't have an answer for your question, but i was interested to know your interest in Indian restaurants & cooking basmati rice.
i thought you are from Argentina.
we make the above mentioned food at home, but i have no idea how to prepare it. we use pressure cooker at home.Well, perhaps you will have to place the stuff in a closed vessel with the desired amount of water & boil it .I think the ur food turns sticky coz either the amount of water u've poured is more or you are boiling it for a larger span of time.

& i read that u r leaving the soccer forum on this friday...so bad...everyone will miss you.Frankly, I find your answers several times sensible than that of the rest of the members.
rinse your rice under cold water, then put into a large pot with lots of water.Cook to the doneness you like then drain into a collander(metal strainer).Rince under hot water and then place the collander back over pot with some hot water in the botton. This will steam the rice and keep it hot until you are ready to serve it.
Ingredients
For perfect rice, it's best to avoid the 'easy-cook' basmati rice as it doesn't contain the starch that gives the lovely fluffy texture, flavour and pure white colour when cooked. However, if that's all you can get it's not necessary to rinse it in water before cooking.

1lb basmati rice
1 pint water
salt

Method
1. To make sure you get lovely fluffy rice, wash it in several changes of cold water, then leave to soak for about 30 minutes in fresh cold water.
2. Drain the rice and put into a medium saucepan. Add the water and salt, bring to the boil and cover with a tight-fitting lid. If the lid isn't very tight, cover the pan with aluminium foil before putting the lid on top. Turn the heat to low and leave to cook for 10 minutes before turning off the heat. Don't lift off the lid; just leave the rice to continue cooking in the pan for about 5 minutes until you're ready to serve. The rice should have absorbed all the water and will just need fluffing up with a fork.
for 1 cup or good quality basmati rice 2.25 cups of water.
first wash the rice well.then soak the rice in some more room temp water for abt 15 mins.the boil fresh water first(equivalent to the rice)then drain the rice of h2o in which it was soaked then put the rice into the boiling water.cover and cook in low flame for 10mins.then with the fork see whether h2o is all absorbed(like jus tilt the pan to a side then with the fork try to push the rice and see if u have h2o )if there is water still then wait for 2mins.then check again.
pls dont touch the rice after cooking it for 10mins.as this the time they r soft and they will break easily.
then put it on a plate and try to refrigerate it.then after 2hrs mix 1/2tsp of oil and microwave it covered for 1min.
serve hot..............
