How does our diet compare to theirs?
Answer:
Very different diets when compare with these two!
As for breakfast, you can tell how different they eat, the Japanese diet contains more starch and sodium while the British diet contains more fat (oily)
Traditional Japanese meal : steamed rice, miso soup, grilled fish, boiled vegetables or Japanese pickles / natto / tofu or stir fried assorted vegetables....
Traditional British meal : Milk tea / grilled tomatoes / baked beans/ fried mushrooms / bacon or sauages and eggs..., hash brown... (ah.. I'm drooling)
Japanese do not just eat raw seafood, they also eat cooked food, tofu, chicken, beef steak or pork, but mainly in their diet the portion of meat or seafood is just about 1/4 or 1/5 while the portions of vegetables & fruits are around 2/5 or 3/5, rice would be 1/5 or 2/5 usually Japanese males consume more rice than females.
While British intake their starch mainly from potatoes (well, the climate is so different and they can't grow rice in UK), British diet contains more meat and have a habit to have afternoon tea with sweet (scones / muffins / sandwiches) while Japanese don't have this culture. British has kidney pie, Sunday Roast with thick gravy while Japanese don't have any similar food like that at all.
The desserts are very different too! Well, British has Yorkshire pudding which is very famous while Japanese has their green tea ice-cream top with some red bean sauce, youkan (red bean or other flavours but the texture is similar to hard jelly).
British don't have sake but they (UK) have Johnny Walker!
Nowadays, it is you to make your diet be healthy, no matter it is British / Japanese or Chinese or French! Both can be healthy if you choose to cook right, eat right, drink right! Avoid high sodium, high sugar, high fat processed food, consume more vegetables and fruits, it is all up to you, not the culture anymore!
Let's pick breakfast as example again, for British,
You can have grilled tomatoes, boiled eggs, a piece of toast and a cup of herbal tea with honey or a cup of warm skimmed milk
As for Japanese,
You can have 100g of grilled fish + miso soup serve with half bowl of rice + boiled vegetables + a cup of green tea
Very filling and healthy! Don't you think so?
P.S. British eat with forks, knives and spoon while Japanese eat with chopsticks.
Japanese eat Dolphins and the English dont.....
our chips are way better
British people eat a whole lot more than Japs do.
Neither one is appealing to me, the Brits are NOT famous for their cooking (very bland and unseasoned) and since the Japanese eat everything raw, I don't think that qualifies as cooking anything, just eating it as is....yuck. Bless the Italians...they have a diet!
The basic staple of the Japanese diet is rice. The Japanese also eat a great deal of seafood.
While the British are more fond of meats and potatoes. The British diet is very high in saturated fats, while the Japanese diet is remarkably lower. The British tend to fry, and deep fry everything. The Japanese are more fond of steaming dishes.
The rate of Heart disease in Japan is much lower than in the UK; BUT, the rate of stomach and intestinal cancers (that are related to high seafood intake) are much higher in Japan than the UK.
Hope this helps. Cheers.
Japanese food is considered healthier than British food. The Japanese diet mainly consist of rice, fish, tea and soup. While the British diet is more diverse.
japanese eat more rice and veg,sea vegetables.miso soup.its nice.
they even have rice for breakfast.its becoming common over here to eat japanese food-sushi.
dont know if they are so keen to try our fish and chips.
They eat a lot of crappy raw fish, which is why they have no sense of humour!
The japanese base their whole menu around the rice. this is their main component, i mean this is the meal the rest is basically the sides. They also are seafood consumers. Not just the fish or shellfish, but the whole sea. Utilize everything they can from fish bones to seaweed and kelp. Look at their basic stock nori. This is comprised from fish flakes and seaweed. They tend to steam and grill alot, with very little frying. All of this leads to a much healthier diet. The british are very much different. They base their meal around the meat. The sides corrispond to the choice and cut of meat, this is directly taken from french traditions. You see way back when the british royalty (mainly queens) would send for french chefs to come and not only prepare food , but teach their skill to the other chefs. This leads to alot frying, as well as dense heavy foods with heavy sauces. This makes for unhealthy diet. They do share a love for the sea and many of its delicacies, but the british draw the line on what all the will consume.
first want to say that japanese do not eat everything raw...some people need to learn about other cultures. Britain is not known for its cuisine and the English breakfast is far from healthy...although yummy, which is why they are the second fattest nation in he world. the japanese diet is very healthy and deliciouse, not greasy and good for digestion but can be to some an acquiered taste depending on how and where you grew up. a perfect example is myself, i have been to 15 different countries and have alway tried exotic food with my family, but my Irish (not British) boyfriend who is a very picky eater and traveled for other reasons won't even consider trying the stuff :-P. i find that sooo cute oddly enough...
The Japanese diet has far too much carbohydrate and salt and far too little fruit and vegetables. Constipation and gastric problems are common
The British eat far too much carbohydrate and salt and fat and sugar and far too little fruit and vegetables. Constipation and gastric problems and heart problems and diabetes and musco skeletal problems are common.
Spot the difference.
they eat rice and rice and raw fish!!!
BORING!!! but you can live till your 800
Th Japanese diet is one of the best in the world because of its high consumption of fish and vegetables especially that of the island of Okinawa that has a high longevity rate attributed to its inhabitants diet. There are many common diet related western diseases that are very uncommon in Japan because of its diet. The British diet on the contrary is too fatty, sugary and full of dairy products. Because of it Britain has a high incidence of diet related diseases like breast cancer, osteoporosis and strokes. But luckly things are improving a bit with in certain classes of British society with more available knowledge on the positive and negative nutritional values of food. Like this question for instance
the japanese are much healthier while the british diet is full of starchy foods-not very exciting. Everything is potatoes!
