Answer:
The only method I have seen and used is to just lightly pass it through an open flame if you have a gas range. If not, put into a med hot skillet that's been sprayed with a non-stick spray such as Mazola spray. Turn over after about 1 minute or less then turn over for about 30-60 seconds. Experiment a little.
Very good with a little rice, chopped boiled egg, a little diced pork, finely chopped Chinese cabbage and some gimche or hot sauce.
Roll up and enjoy!
i was told that 95% of the time when you order seaweed its really curly kale finely chopped and fried. then add brown sugar.
boil a water, pour seaweeds, remove, rinse, add vinegar, salt, onion, ginger, tomatoe, little sugar (optional)cucumber
Its not actually seaweed, its bok choi and its shredded and deep fired. ALthough some places still deep fry seaweed, but mostly its not.
Its chopped up cabbage that is deep fried for a few seconds. Drained and sprinked with sugar and salt.
Chop spring greens into very fine strips. Deep fry in a wok until crispy. Drain on absorbent paper. Sprinkle with a mixture of 1part salt to 2 parts sugar. Enjoy
I learned how they make it from working in a chinese take away. Its chinese cabbage called spring green. You shred it very finely then boil it for a 1-2 minuets. Drain and rinse in cold water. Scrunch it up in your hands and squeeze all the water out. Seperate it and deep fried for a few seconds. leave to drain off all the oil and cool down. You then mix in a liitle salt a little more msg than salt and a litlle more sugar than the msg. You can freeze any extra after you have boiled it. That is the true 100% recipe. My husband is a chef in a chinese takeaway.
Ah that is just the secret of all eternity! Honestly - it is impossible! The ingrediants are; savoy cabbage (the wrinkly one) a bit of brown sugar and some prawny powder, but I have tried it so many times and never succeeded! I think the cabbage is deep fat fried and then the prawny powder and the brown sugar is sprinkled on top, but it just doesn't taste right. Good luck young pioneer - may you succeed.
Ah no, the person above got it... I should get a job in a chinese, I love the seaweed it's like an addiction!
Actually they are Spring cabbage, shredded into thin slices, boil for about 10 - 15 . squeeze all the water out and fried in very hot oil until they begin crispy. I do this all the time as i owe a Chinese restaurant.
Its deep fat fried, and you will find that most chinky take aways use green cabbage. So im afraid you not actually eating seaweed your eating deep fat fried CABBAGE. Trust me on this i know.
