Is this the one?
1 pound okra pods, stem ends cut off, sliced 1/4-inch thick
salt
cold water
yellow cornmeal
salt and pepper
PREPARATION:
Put sliced okra in a bowl, sprinkle generously with sal; cover with very cold water. Refrigerate the okra for at least 1 hour. Drain; roll okra slices in cornmeal seasoned with salt and pepper until well-coated.
Fry in a deep skillet in about 1/2-inch of hot oil until browned and crisp. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
2 to 4 servings.
i love fried okra ! ever tried fried corn on the cobb ? it is soooo good !
I love okra, whether it's fried or in soup or with shrimp and rice, whatever. But because I live in a small town in upstate NY it's very rare that the stores sell it fresh, or that they even know what it is. Tried the frozen stuff, but that usually comes out slimey.
mmmmm
its ok, but not as good as fried squash
love fried okra great stuff
me! me!
HI!
You made me so hungry!!! I love it!!!! When i lived in Kansas I ate alot of it!!!
love it
I love fried okra. I also like okra and tomatoes, but the fried is the best.
me! me! me, me, me, me!!!!
Every time I go to Cracker Barrel I order fried okra for one of my vegetable picks.
Lots of happiness to you.
o0o0o0o0! It's delicious, espically with a little bit of pepper and a dash of salt. That's how i love mine!
Fried okra--awesome, boiled okra--gross!!!
I love it fried, steamed with fresh tomatoes and in soups and gumbo. I also grow it in the summer and freeze some for winter. Great vegetable. People should give it a chance. It is alot tastier than beets, eggplant and over cooked spinach. I have to add something here, after seeing all the good responses. If your temperatures are in the 80 90 or even 100's you can grow your own Okra very simply. Most garden stores have plants and or seeds. It does not need much except no weeds around it when it is small, water, and a little fertilizer, I like Fish Emulsion, natural and stinky, but great. You can have your Okra year around.
I love fried okra. Have you tried fried dill pickles? They're great.
I love it! I could it all day long!
I do !! mmmm
Anyway I can get it. I too am a die hard southerner. I used to grow it in my back yard in Illinois. I taught a lot of "yankee" neighbors to eat it. That neighborhood will never be the same!!
I love it!!!1 It's the best. I sometimes cook it at home or go to his fast food spot around the corner. Lot's of people seems to think it's gross. They don't know what they're missing.
