do you think it would be a starting point for learning more about that culture and its people
Answer:
i enjoy all you can eat chinese buffetts..especially when the servers laugh @ me and call me a fat lazy american.
every week
I try foreign cuisine very often. That by itself won't tell you much about a foreign cultute. It would be better to pick up a book from the library. Perhaps a culture's food will then tell you something about them, in context.
About once a month. As far as a starting point yes, just a starting point. I've found that foreign food in America is only similar to the food in other countries.
All the time man!
I love foreign cuisine! I always get excited when I find a restaurant that serves food from a country I haven't tried before. Food is a great way to learn about another culture. However, I think seeing and tasting the food people eat in their homes on a regular basis is better than just trying restaurant food. For example, the abundance of frozen meals in American grocery stores really shows that we are a busy nation, and don't always allow time to sit down for a meal with family and friends.
As often as I can!
As much as I can. It's good to be open to everything. I don't like people who won't try something they have never had before and say it's gross or whatever just by looking at it.
Every chance I can.
I agree, it is a good start.
almost every week! I love food and culture so trust n believe i think its a great starting point for learning about that culture and its people. Especially because theres so much history involved in food and its recipes.
For instance West Indian food- many dishes are a combo of what the slaves invented during colonialism, maroons prepared in hiding, colonists created after being away from home, and merchants/ indentured servants brought to the islands.
Every weekend
I try it often, but I admit to a bit of discrimination. I'm more open to trying foods from certain countries than others. For instance, I thought nothing of trying Vietnamese food, but I'd be a little wary of trying, say, Irish food. I think it has to do with whether or not I've tried food from that region or not. I've had Chinese food, so I wouldn't mind trying other kinds of Asian food. I've had Italian food, so I wouldn't have a problem trying food from other parts of the Mediteranean.
i enjoy foreign cuisine at least twice a month. i think its a very good way to begin learning about other cultures. most cultures express themselves through food.
Perhaps so but these days its difficult to find authentic food. Starting point to learn about the culture and its people- start doing research on a particular culture, it would be a start
I'm eating foreign food everyday. I don't live in my own country.
as much as I can...
gotta be open minded :)
Every week, usually. Chinese is a favorite, I eat that most often, and I also love Indian food. I am a "wimpy american", though who loves spicy food but not a lot of peppers. I like Tandoori chicken and saag the best, and you cannot beat some hot naan or chapati with some tamarind sauce.. awesome.
