If anyone also knows of a good wine to go with this I could sure use some help..
Answer:
If you are talking about Cantonese BBQ pork "Char Siu", then I would suggest the followings:
1) boiled broccoli / choy sum / Chinese broccoli and dip with oyster sauce
2) Stir fried assorted vegetables
3) Any tofu dish you like. (Tofu salad for summer is good too)
Plus steamed rice / rice noodles or egg noodles with chicken soup.

As for wine..., I think Japanese Sake - rice wine (icy cold for summer, but I prefer warm sake for all seasons) or Chinese Shao Xieng Hua Diao Wine are good matches for BBQ pork, my dad likes to drink a bit of XO cognac when we have BBQ pork or Roast Goose for dinner.
I would keep the sides pretty simple.
If you want to do a salad, do one with mixed greens and red onion...some orange or grapefruit sections in it would be perfect. For dressing, just use olive oil and rice-wine vinegar.
Rice of course, always works, and even wild rice would be nice.
Broccoli sauteed with garlic and ginger, with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. Or use asparagus, instead.
For a wine, personally I would recommend something with some body to it - a cab or a red zin.
Have fun!
You could do some asian noodles with ginger, garlic and a dressing of sesame oil, 1/4 part soy sauce and 1/4 part teriyake sauce. Serve hot or cold.
And kind of rice would work well. A great variation would be brown rice stir fried with pineapple and peas.
Sauteed green beans with soy sauce, ginger and szechwan peppers.
Steamed asparagus with butter.
If you are thinking something less Asian, a toasted garlic bread and salad would work nicely.
I would disagree with the above wine choices. I think the pork and accompaniments have a strong flavor. You should contrast them with a nice, crisp chardonnay with hints of pear.
I would say that a good cabbage recipe would be ideal.
