In my family of origin, it was barbecued salmon (whole, stuffed with lemons and onions, wrapped in aluminum foil and put into a Weber kettle for 45 minutes. It was served with a mayonnaise, lemon juice & curry sauce that was fabulous!)
Potato or Macaroni salad with lots of pieces of dill pickle and Best Foods (Hellman's) mayonnaise.
A green salad made with slices of red onion and cubes of cantalope dressed in a tamari style dressing.
